Souvenir from Ghent.

An Oldie today, from my young years working at sea.
My ship ( in the background ) was calling in Ghent to load a cargo of wheat for Algerian ports. We were fortunate as we stayed a full week to load our cargo. Therefore I had time to visit friends living in Tubize , a small locality situated South of Brussels. I came back "home" Sunday afternoon. No work, No Overtime was called during the weekend. It was pretty quiet.

As you can see , it was a sunny but foggy day.I took this shot from the other side of the basin. These "peniches" are often family operated. They working and living on these small river boats. Here they were waiting to be unloaded at the Ghent Grain Elevator.

I found the atmosphere a bit surrealist, the front being relatively clear while the background looked like a wallpaper.

Hope you will like it.

Photoshop work from a 35 mm 3.5" x 5" print. Adjusted, constrats, colors , levels. Image uncropped but resized for upload.
Finally Image filtered and sharpened with Neat image.

Cheers!

Docks are always an inspiration to a photographer Robert. You must have seen many of them. (I rather keep it local ;-) )
Is it due to "old age" or the effects of the scanner, there is a slight unsharpness which could be corrected. I tried a WS to give my impression.

These are interesting looking, what are they used for.

Interesting shot with fog in the background. Thanks for sharing it.
