[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hello everyone,
It's been a while since I last uploaded something here, though I drop in from time to time to have a look at these "views of the world".

What is depicted here is a natural phenomena known as "Sunpillar", which occurs when the sunlight is reflected off ice crystals in clouds at high altitude. [More information can be found on www.caelestia.be and on www.atoptics.co.uk]
For who's interested in the buildings in the picture : on the left St.Georges church, the modern building is part of the "Institute of Tropical Medicine".

Hello Walter,

So it takes a ray of sunlight for you to actually post a photo. I'll take what I can get from you. :-))

Interesting phenomena. I can't say I've ever seen it. It would be a very rare event in Raleigh, NC.

Take care.

Regards,
Randy

Nice silhouettes, and a cool phenomenon, Walter. Hadn't heard of it yet, so I learnt something new today ;o).
Nice to see you pop in with some new work again. I like the somewhat underexposed sky a lot.
