[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Equisetum arvense, or Horsetail (in Dutch: Paardenstaart of Heermoes) is a wild plant that can be found virtually anywhere. It gets quite dominant, making it difficult for other plants to prosper where it grows. It is rather diffucult to get rid of as it grows rhizomes that can go as deep as 3m.

What you see here are the fertile stems with spur cabinets on top. They grow in Lier on the banks of the Netekanaal.

More info on medicinal usage here.

scherpe foto

Hi Frank!
Very well done photograph. Great sharpness and composition, intensive colours, interesting POV.
Few days ago I was crawling in grass wanted to take very similar photo:) but strong sun light didn't helped me much.

Obviously interesting perspective, and far better shot from "on the ground" than from any other "classical" position I think, and for me, a great reminder of why it's important to do.
The image itself is great, all photo aspects of color, lighting, sharpness, DOF, etc. Curious, was it a calm or breezy day?
As to the placement, every time I look, seems that I want it to be just a tad to the right, maybe a 1/2 inch or so, seems that the wild grass would create a natural corridor for the big plants. (Not so much a complaint as a musing though)
Anyway, great shot and education on the plant too.
Thanks for the lesson and for sharing, nice job.

Oh this SO reminds me of rattlesnake rattles! Scary... it made my skin crawl! I've had about 3 too many encounters with rattlesnakes and don't want anymore! HA! Very nice details here, love the DOF!

Bonjour Frank,
Bravo! Annie

ciao Frank.. after a little holidays, i'm back! ;)
here a wonderful capture.. with focus so well taken.. colours and details are so good.. expecially BG and the rest out of focus have excellent colours..
an intense capture.. really well done! thanks
ciao Marco

Frank
I like the very low pov. Sharpness and colour it very good. Shallow dof comes to its own right in this photo.

Hi Frank,

This is a beautiful presentation . . I like the DoF . . and composition with the wild plant stands out from the surrounding . .
You have such a great detail observation . .
Well done my friend

Tfs,
Tjutjut

Many thanks for your kind words on No need to walk .

Very nice--it was worth it to get down on your belly.

Prachtig Frank,

Yassou Frank,

TFS,

Beautiful in all aspect Frank.

Good news Frank, My sponsor from EPZ(ePhotozine.com)of which I'm also a member, sent me a NIkon D70 my 1st DSLR. Today, another member of EPZ pleaded to send me the lens. God is good Frank. I'm a member of EPZ last Feb 08' and here in Treklens only last month. I find both site very friendly and helpful.

Thank you,
Dennis

i believe these are called horsetails Frank, ah yes now ive seen on your note. good exposure and colors. nice low POV approach

Hello Frank!

I thought they were tails of rattlesnakes (^_^). Cool DOF to enhance the beauty of this repetition theme.

Well observed and captured!
Cheers!
Robert

That's a very pleasant picture. I like the colors and the contrast. The first think I checked after seeing it was the lens used. Nice.

Pedro

Goede combinatie!!! Ook het DOF is perfect.

Good morning Frank!
Great shot! Beautiful natural colours, very good depth of field, sharp details of the plants are contrasting nicely with the blurry background. My compliments
best regards
ziggy

TFS & groeten,
Erik
