Event : The 18th Antwerp Stampe Fly in.
Stampe and Vertongen were WW1 pilots who started an airplane manufacturing company nearby Antwerp. They were quite succesful but the factory was bombed by the Germans at the start of WW2, and once again by the allied forces at the end of the war. It was left completely destroyed.
Now the Stampe museum - next to the Deurne airport - collects, restores and displays old airplanes. Each year they also fly the ones that are airworthy, but many guestplanes are joining the party. Most of the aircraft were biplanes but also other types such as the Spitfire and Mustang made their presence.
As simple guest with modest equipment I tried to take some shots that were representative of the event.
This particular airplane used to belong to the Swiss Airforce and carries the name "Pilatus" (id : HB-RCB).
Some pilots were chatting next to the plane, reflected on its shiny surface. The picture seems an odd cut-out, but I wanted to eliminate disturbing building that would otherwise show, and on the other hand include the reflection of the nearby biplane along the pilots.
Original picture, just added signature. |

Excellent reflection Walter, but also nice details on the canopy of the plane. I particularly like the biplane's reflection. As for the crop: sometimes less is more ;o)
