[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Long ago that I've tried to make photos at home in an improvised studio.

I used only two sources of light.
An halogen behind an diffuser umbrella for the main light. A second halogen inside a old computer case middle tower for lighting rear.

the photo is -2IL under-exposed and retouched with 'toshop. it allows me to ensure that the background is well black, without adding too much noise in the image.

Thx

Merci.

Hi...Great BV portrait,contrast and light...Best regards Jozef.....!!!

Hi Pierre

Home studios are hard work! Whew. It has taken me years to start getting results I like. :(

I think you've done an ok job here, there's (mostly) good diffusion with the light, although there is a strong highlight on her near cheek and a sharp-edged shadow on the side of her nose, both of which could be softened for better effect.

The pose is a little awkward, she seems to be leaning so far forward that she is about to tip over! Perhaps if you had her sitting more upright it would work better - and you wouldn't have that "bit" of arm down the left edge, which feels a little messy.

Finally - her left (our right) eye is more sharply in focus than her right eye, but usually it is the nearest eye that should be most sharply in focus.

Hopefully this is the kind of feedback you want? Good work here and I look forward to seeing your results!

Check out the work of Andy Domondon who used a halogen setup too.

Hi Pierre,

I am not the expert in model photography . . Rew and Haldian are the members who are dealing with it . . I learn from them . .
But I like the way you setup the lighting . . produces highlights at edges of the lady . . and clearly presented details of her hair on the right to show boundaries with the BG . .
Lovely presentation . .

Tfs,
Tjutjut

Many thanks for your kind words on Smell like hell, taste like heaven .

good portrait. genre classic. eyes are well accented what is very important. one thing, i'd soften the highlight on her cheek. and i'm happy to see a frame so simple. here on TL i notice this strange tendency to put good shots in bulky ugly frames.

regards,
Lena

je suis toujours fascinée par la photo noir et blanc,et votre série de portraits me confirme que j'ai raison, ils sont superbes, les points de lumière mettent bien en valeur le visage de cette jolie jeune fille.
Bravo
