A duck with 18 chickens ! Yesterday I saw the mother and the father walking with only 9... There's another duck (sister) who possibly could be the mother of the other 9... I don't know... all I have seen is that the other duck tries to attack the little ones, but they are very well protected by the mother and the father.
Anyone knows if it's possible that one duck has 18 chickens ?
Picture taken this evening, about one hour before sunset, in our backgarden. I couldn't come closer, they didn't allow me...
Correction : ducklins is stead of chickens, thanks to the ones who told me. |

It is a pysical impossibility for a duck to have Chickens but yes it is possible for a duck to have 18 Ducklins.
A nice family group here though it could be a little sharper.

The mother duck looks like she's trying to explain this large brood of chicks (ducklings). Too bad we don't understand duck language:) Bravo for her taking care of the extra young ones. I like the light and the green surroundings for this gathering, and the family seems quite united under the mother's protective attitude. Good catch!
BTW, it is possible for a duck to have chicks (young birds). I realize that chicks is the word you meant instead of chickens. Another word for young ducks is ducklings. This whole group could be called a brood. Lots of ducks together would be called a flock. Or a bunch of birds:) Too many bird words...chuckle.
Chickens? LOL!!
I think you meant ducklings, lukie.
