[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This photograph was taken again at the Open Air Museum (www.bokrijk.be) as they have ‘older’ breeds of farm animals on their grounds.

This little piglet was happy as a pig in mud (ark ark) with its brothers and sisters and the Big Momma sow. Nice peaceful scene until one idiot tourist picked up one of the piglets (why, I wonder ? To show off to his friends ? To give a close view to his children ?). So all of a sudden we have one terrified squealing piglet, all the others running into all directions, and Big Momma getting ready to attack the visitor. He dropped the piglet (panic ?), laughed with his friends and left. I did not find it a very pleasant scene. I wonder about the stupidity of fellow human beings sometimes.

Anyhow, about this picture – I was about 12 meters away from this little one, when I took this shot. First I didn’t like the others in the picture but then again I liked the curly Q and the fact that you can see that this one is a bit special, doing its own thing. Weather slightly overcast, taken outside. Too bad the right leg is moving, but not much I can do about that, right ?

Duplicated and multiplied layer at about 65 % opacity. I know it makes for a much darker picture, but I like the richer colors one gets as a result of multiplication. A little boost in contrast and a little less brightness, framed and resized.

Any comments/critiques/workshops etc etc etc

Hi Marleen,
I think it's a very nice portrait of this little "babe". I love pigs, like cats they know how to enjoy life when given the chance.
Not having seen the original I like the result of the pp work: B&W with just a touch of pink.

Marleen- I like the pigs in the background add a nice touch to it, it's a nice picture the poor pig- I agree that some people just dont think sometimes.... My sister loves pigs so when I saw this pictureI had to have a closer look, well captured, well done!!

I like this a lot Marleen, there's something about it that I find charming, even though we slaughter and eat these animals. I heard that pigs are smarter than dogs and have just as much personality. Color and sharpness make this very pleasing.

You know, I easily get annoyed by humans too. They can be so ignorant sometimes.

Great capture, Marleen! I love the expression on the baby's face. Your note is great, and you're right, people can be so stupid. It would have served the tourist right to get knocked into the mud by the mama.

nice piggy, i like the dark tones you give to this pic, the pp is appropriate. As for those behind, they are an excellent background.

Like the beatles... The 3 littles pigs from the classic history had another pig who is less know... It's him that we wss... You can trust me about that truth... It was the big bad wolf who told me!
The posture is nice... I almost feel bad to enjoy bacon :)
