Kastav, a town fortified by a town wall with nine defensive towers, was built on the ridge of Karst mountain. It is situated very near Opatija and Rijeka .
The history of Kastav is turbulent. Archeological discoveries confirm the presence of an Illyrian tribe of Japodi in 11th century B.C. on the site of today's town. After them the town was governed by the Romans, Ostrogoths, Greeks, Lombards and in the 7th century the Croatians moved to the place and stayed here till today.

19th century is the period of national revival and a number of cultural institutions which promoted the Croatian language and national identity was established.
After the World War I, Kastav and its region experienced the destiny of the area divided between the Kingdom of Italy and the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. After 1945 thay were re-united in Croatia, as a part of and indipendent Republic of Croatia, that gave Kastav back the status of town.

Crekvina is a ruin of a magnificent church of St. Mary's Assumption, that was being built by the Jesuits during their reign.

Hello Tsilla! I love this composition! The management of the light is very well done and the overall quality is very good, thanks!

Mario

Bonjour Tsilla,
Jolie ruine, avec des touches de verts très tendres, une insolite ouverture sur le fond de la vallée, un seul regret le ciel n'est pas bleu, il aurait fait ressortir encore plus ce joli tableau, dommage
Amicalement Odile

Hello Tsilla. This is just stunning. the ruin is well captured and the placement of natural elements are perfect too. The tree in the foreground and the distant horizon through the arch is really well picked and captured. regards. jusni

Hi Tsilla

Very good composition and POV.
Nice lighting and details.
Sorry to be picky but I find the half door on the left distracting.
Still a good image.

Regards Derek

Nice work here, the juxtaposition of the live tree and the "dead" ruin is a great presentation.
Good job, great photo.

excellent done!

Hello Tsilla.
Well seen and captured picture with the colouful tree in it.
Surgestion, that half door and a part on top (just above the tree) out. The sky is too empty, it adds not much to the scene.
Best regards from Jan
