A poignant and touching shot Jean.

I am always cautious about photographs like this, even in a public place people have a right to be treated with respect - if it was me I would always ask permission before taking a photograph of somebody's misfortune, especially if I intended to post it on the Internet.

Of course, in journalism that option isn't usually available!

Those ethical thoughts aside, this is beautifully composed with good management of exposure.

Hi JC
Indeed a great description of loneliness and a sign of our modern world. Young ones just wondering aimlessly around, lost and misoriented. Combined with the excellently balanced row of columns it creates a very strong yet minimal impression

A really powerful picture - well spotted and well taken. I love the fact that the only two non architectural elements to the picture are the man, who exudes a melancholy air, and the detail of a glamourous poster on the right of the frame. Good use of b&w to intensify the mood.
Thanks for sharing

Hello Jean.

Excellent image and BN, nice composition.

Regards.
Jose Luis.

Hi JC, great B&W composition with sitting man, splendid perspective, very well done, ciao Silvio

Good use of pattern with these pillars. The theme of lonliness certainly rings clear in this shot.
Good b and w conversion, too!

Huh!! I like this Jean. I have to agree with Rew, though. But my imagination is, having a model posing like the guy was doing, with the pillars as a strong perspective element... ah! could be a very nice portrait.

Nice BW tonality.

Ramdan.

I can't help but agree with rewshearer here.
But overall, it's a wonderful perspective though it's a bit monotonal for a B & W. It should also be better to zoom in more to omit whatever it is behind the first and and second pillar. I find them a little to distractive.
