The outdoor shots at the "Silver Lake" is turned right at the beginning of the Plitvice Lakes.
The cast of the Indians were the inhabitants of the village Plitvička Jezera.

The Plitvice Lakes is a national park in Croatia, situated in the Plitvice Lakes municipality, near the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina.


The Plitvice Lakes in 1979 included as one of the world's first natural monuments in the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Every year about 900,000 visitors to the park.

Plitvice Lakes National Park is in central Croatia, the National Park lies in a basin between the Licka PlješevicaPlješevica mountain and the Mala Kapela mountain, both mountains are part of the Dinaric Alps. The national Park is underlain by karstic rock, mainly dolomite and limestone with associated lakes and caves, this has given rise to the most distinctive feature of the lakes.

The lakes are separated by natural dams of travertine, which is deposited by the action of moss, algae and bacteria. The encrusted plants and bacteria accumulate on top of each other, forming travertine barriers which grow at the rate of about 1 cm per year.

The lakes are situated on the eponymous Plitvice plateau, between the mountains of Lička Plješevica (Gornja Plješevica peak 1,640 m), Mala Kapela (Seliški Vrh peak at 1,280 m) and Medveđak (884 m). The sixteen lakes are separated into an upper and lower cluster formed by runoff from the mountains, descending from an altitude of 636 m to 503 m over a distance of some eight km, aligned in a south-north direction. The lakes collectively cover an area of about two km˛, with the water exiting from the lowest lake to form the Korana River.

The lakes are renowned for their distinctive colours, ranging from azure to green, grey or blue. The colours change constantly depending on the quantity of minerals or organisms in the water and the angle of sunlight.

The lakes are divided into the 12 Upper Lakes and the four Lower Lakes.

Beautiful scene from a high POV. The color of the water contrasts wonderfully with the greenery. Very sharp, with nice DOF, TFS.

I love the turquoise water it looks lovely and a nice contrast with the rich green of the surrounding trees. The high pov is very nice great colours and sharp details you have made it look like the place to go, well done.

What a breathtaking scene! You chose an excellent POV. Did you have to hike much to get to that location, or was it readily available? The colours are terrific. It's interesting that there is such a difference between the colours of the two bodies of water. TFS.
