Five bridges... in Prague

This picture I took (with my 'analog' Minolta 300si), during my holiday in 2001 in Prague capital of the Czech Republic. It was not a brilliant day regarding the weather. Nevertheless I walked up to the Prague Castle (Pražský hrad) wandered through the drizzling rain in the park and found this panoramic view. If you have a close look you aware five bridges with the world famous Charles Bridge (Karlův most) as second one counted from the bottom. Walking over this bridge you will find dozens of artists doing their job. Refer WS where you can see one of the painters. They sell their work for reasonable prices (in 2001). Prague is really a city which you should visit at least once in a lifetime! There is so much to do, to see and to listen, remember: history (Vaclav Havel), literature (Kafka), music (Antonín Dvořák and Bedrich Smetana) Prague is one of the cultural highlights in Europe! Below the bridges gently flows the river Vladva or Moldau in German. Remember from the famous Czech composer Bedrich Smetana and his Moldau symphony.

I know this is a boring note but at least I hope some of you take the change to learn more about culture in general to read about the historical an cultural gifts from the past. Don’t throw it away!

That’s all folks!

Prague (Czech: Praha (IPA: [praɦa]) is the capital and largest city of the Czech Republic. Situated on the Vltava river in central Bohemia, it is home to approximately 1.2 million people. (It can be derived from jobs statistics, however, that an additional 300,000 work there without having registered as residents.)
Nicknames for Prague have included "city of a hundred spires" and "the golden city". Since 1992, the historic centre of Prague has been included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. According to Guinness World Records, Prague Castle is the largest ancient castle in the world. (Text from Wikipedia.com)

Hi Hans, I think you did right getting this one out and scanning it in for us, what an awesome shot, you must have done really well to get such great depth like this on a day like that. Such a pleasure to see your shots each day.

Cheers

Steve

Hi Hans,
Very attractive composition, with excellent POV. The quality isn't the best possible, perhaps due to the atmospheric conditions, but technicalities aren't that important in this case. Nice framework.

Regards,
Chris

Hello Hans!
Beautiful composition and beautiful place.Prague is a very great town with bridges ,old streets and buildings. It`s a pity, there is no sun.In sun rayes Prague looks like golden town.
Best regards.

Hello Hans...I find your notes very interesting. One of the main aims of TL and TE is to explore the world through photography. For an older image and a scanned one, very good quality. The slight blurred look emphasizes the day as you descibed it. Well presented in your usual style. TFS,
David

unfortunately my trip to prague over new years is cancelled,
so i have to enjoy the view over the pretty town through your photo, hans! :-)
it looks great even in the rain, wonderful panorama,
which i will hopefully be able to see, too, later next year,
if everything goes ok.
here i really have to say: haartelijk bedankt for showing! :-)
(my dutch is a lot worse than your german. *g*).
take care, thor.

A fantastic image of the city that i love, but have never been there:)
Great view, very good lightning and a perfect crop!

thanks for commenting my works, Karina:)

Een prachtige foto Hans!
Er is een manier in TL om zoiets kleiner af te beelden en als men er op klikt zie je hier in TL een nieuw
zelfde foto maar dan in panorama. (Lucbus weet hoe)
Compliment

Fantastic composition here Hans. This is surely one for the Czech tourist authorities to use.

Also the note is far from boring... it's veri interesting and shows your passion for the subject.

Regards,

Nigel

The elongated format with minimal sky really emphasizes your main subject: the bridges. The dappled light works very well too. Nice one!

Very nice panoramic view of Prague, Hans (a city I have never visited but it is on my list of places to visit). Very subdued light but it seems to give a special mood to this beautiful city. Well done!

This is what I call a great POV and a good eye to present a shot! The weather and viisibility were not great for this shot. But in fact it gives an interesting mood to the scene.
Great panoramic composition!
Well done Hans!

Like a postcard. I'd like to send it to my friend.
Good work.
have a nice day
bye Aga

Fantastic shot with the five bridges Hans;your photograph and your informative notes convince me that this is somewhere I must visit.
