In the center of the small South Moravian town of Mikulov on the main square is this grand 16th century house with a gorgeous 'Sgraffito' facade. A man looks down at the passers-by from the main window. He has been there for a moment and i have plenty of time to grab my camera and get a few photos of the scene.
'Sgraffito' is a technique of wall decor produced by applying two layers of plaster tinted in two contrasting colors ( for exemple ---black and white as here ) to a surface , once dry the top layer is 'scratched 'to reveal the one beneath .Lots of exemples of this method are found throughout the Czech Republic.

CAROL!!! How are you? This is a beautiful shot of the building and it's windows. I like the nice touch of the windowbox and flowers. The red giving a little color to the already beautifully, detailed building. I wonder what the man is viewing?

This architectural design is unreal to these American eyes. I don't think I could quit shooting the details.

Great addition to the theme. Lisa

Bonjour Carol,

Amicalement.
Robert

What a beautiful and interesting building . Excellent artwork and your photo with the man looking down is fantastic to add that human touch and show that this is a real life scene. Just wonderful! Thanks also for sharing the interesting note about the artwork.

Kind regards
