[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This woman with her child was so far away that even with the telelens it was difficult to see her face. And the child is not seen at all. But I felt then as I feel now the love of a mother for her child. I think it has something to do with the way she holds her entire body while pushing the pram. And the surroundings only helped underline the harmonious vibes I felt coming up the hill to where I was standing.

Technically this was another one of those shots that are very difficult to resize. I think it has something to do with the abundance of detail (in the field), that it is difficult to get below 200 kb without losing too much quality. I used a filter called Lanczos from a freeware called IrfanView that I was recommended once by a fellow TL member. I am sure there are better methods and I am willing to learn. Photos like this look a lot better before resizing.

like this shot a lot Per, al that green and just one subject in the spotlight ,good of you to place the mother on the left side here with a long way to go ...tried to improve on the quality , will show you in the ws ...

all that you said in your note is true
be it about love shown or
the trade-off of quality and size
so you were at full zoom?
are you happy with the FZ20?
i should look in more detail at your gallery
do you frequently need to go to high iso
what are your thoughts on the noise issues there
i'm struggling with the possibilty of an upgrade
a stabilized zoom digicam that's easy to pack for travel/work/hikes
vs. something like the Rebel XT with ~2 IS lenses
quite a cost differential...
one that i'd never make up since i wouldn't be able sell photos - LOL
look at me rattling on - do you mind my asking?
there's also the issue that my abilities with a camera do not merit a dSLR
i'm typing as if i've had too much coffee
indeed i have - lots more work to do before the report goes out on thursday
ignore me if necessary - bye for now

This simple picture really does capture her concern and love for her child - just look at the angle of her head. Thanks for the technical info too.

Excelent shot, Per
Well done on this composition. You mentioned far away, in landscape type shots an F14 or so is recommended. I'm not sure if you took alot with different Fstops. maybe something to consider another time.

Hi Per
I must say that i have never seen such a composition (with a mother and straller) before ... thanks for sharing it on TL ... I like it a lot ... cheers ... sarju
PS: thanks for the informative note

Photoshop is more useful than Irfanview... I agree with WS made by Leon... working with background and subject as separated layers.
You can the Gimp, also, it is a free software.
Anyway, I like your composition... i did something similar, a few days ago... and have another work already posted in TE , that resembles yours.
Cheers... and thank you again!!
Carmem

I like this one very much Per. The green grass and yellow flowers make a striking backdrop for the woman with the pram. Your FZ20 did a great job with the zoom. I really like the IS on my Cananon S1 IS.
It is good that your composition has no distractions from the main subject, no sky, trees or anything in the foreground. Very well composoed.

Simple but great, Per !
I like it, simplicity often works very well.
Nice composed, good moment !

bonjour Per.
Cette jeune femme navigue dans une mer de pissenlits.
Un peu plus de saturation peut être sur le jaune et un filtre de renforcement sur la netteté aurait apporté un plus .
C'est à essayer ..

hello Per.
This young woman sails in a sea of dandelions. A little more saturation can be on the yellow and a filter of reinforcement on clearness would have brought one more. It is to be tested.

I agree with your note in every aspect, Per. For downsizing, I tend to apply a little trick that Leon taught me: push the image up to 1200 dpi first, then resize to 800 pixels in a few steps (generally 2), and then lower the resolution to 72 or 96 again. Every shot needs some experimenting, I'm afraid. Lovely compo you used here. TFS.

I love the scene with all those dandelions in the meadow and a mother walking her young baby in the pram. Brings back memories. I agree some details aren't up to your usual standard, and I don't seem to have any advice for you about the resizing. I saw Leon's workshop and he seemed to have improved the quality quite a bit.

Veryu good tele one, and a nice quality for this posting. There is no problem in size and the position is good for the lady.
I like it
jean Michel
