There is of course always something romantic and poetic about the idea of leaving the city behind and setting out on foot across fields and forests. I suppose this man was simply out for an evening stroll with his dog, but the image evoked those thoughts of leaving the city in me. Once again I was far away and using the telelens of the FZ20 almost to the full. And still the dog noticed me!

Technically I rotated a bit and tried an almost square crop (because I was indecisive between a landscape and a portrait presentation), I then used a one click enhancement filter and sharpened before resizing this time. I also sharpened again after resizing.

Very good, with the city just showing on the top of the picture :) You managed to capture a temporarily escape from the urban landscapes.

The DOF is kind of weird, but nice. The colors seem more alive in the foreground as well.

Were you in time to get away from the dog that's watching you?

This really is an urban landscape; the city and the rural area. I like the point of view you chose from high up. I smiled when you wrote the dog spotted you even when using the zoom.

almost looks like two different scenes if i scroll down the page..the upper side looks ver y vibrant and alive and the lower side somhow sad..Very nice capture Per !!hav you tried to use a tripod with the zoom on full ? think it would improve the sharpness...

Simple and excellent shot. Right the choice to keep the city in background.
Yes, dog noticed you definitely. Which area of Prague is it?

thanks

Marco

These Leica lens and stabiliser are very good and are a good guaranty for a result. The use here is very appropriated with a nice effect on the situation of the buildings looks tight to the scene.
A good idea in a very well built composition.
I like it

I'd have entirely cropped off the city Per, as to me the real subjects are the man and his dog. But I'm totally biased, of course ;o). It's nice to see this stretch of walking ground near the city, but I find that skyline somewhat disturbing. As you said in one of your last critiques, "You see how we can read things differently?". TFS.
And - of course the dog spotted you! That's his job LOL.

I love it!!!
Added to my favorites... although I'm not sure about the cropping (maybe a vertical orientation with more sky??)... you did a suberb multilayered capture!!!
The straight lines of the buildingsof a overcrowed city, the trees... and a unique moment of both isollation and friendship of a single old man and his dog...great!!!
A story told in outstanding picture.
A masterpiece.
Cheers!!!

( have you tried a b&w version?.. )

Scroll up a busy city, scroll down and we get quiet countryside. Well done I like it very much.

I like how and where you placed the subject in relation to the rest of the scene. Nice. B

Hi Per, This is one of my personal favorites of yours. It adds to the nostalgia that this is an elderly gentleman with this old friend. He has lived amid the clatter of this city since he was born and this is his escape to sanity and quiet with the one freind he can trust to always love him. I love the conflict between the hustle of the city and the quiet openess of the country side. To be walking away is much nicer than haveing to face it on the return trip. A great composition....:O)
