Dear colleagues on TL, today I shall give a novelty.
I visited this weekend the Punkva Caves. As shown in the description offered is one of the most beautiful caves that I have seen.
I hope you will like you too.
I wish all a beautiful day,
Adrian

P.S. I know these pictures in difficult light conditions are very difficult to achieve. It is my first attempt to picture in a cave. I hope you will like the result of "work" my.

Moravian Karst is one of the most important karst area of Central Europe. In the area of Moravian Karst, there are more than 1100 caverns and gorges. But only 4 caves of the all number are open to public. There are Punkvevní jeskyně (Punkva Caves) with their underground river – during the cruise you can see there the bottom of the famous Macocha Abyss. Another cave is Kateřinská jeskyně (Catherine’s Cave) with its unique limestone columns. The Balcarka Cave is full of colorful stalactitic decoration. Sloupsko-šošůvské jeskyně (Sloup-Šošůvka Caves) are made by huge corridors and underground gorges.

Remarkable valleys called Pustý žleb (Desert Valley) and Suchý žleb (Dry Valley) are very typical for Moravian Karst; there is also stream called Bílá voda (White Water) coming into the caves and Amatérská jeskyně (Amateur Cave, 34 km long) which is not open to public. Very remarkable for all visitors is view to Macocha Abyss from two platforms – the Upper and Lower foot bridge. In the central part of Moravian Karst, Rudické propadání (Rudice Sink) is the main place to visit, where river called Jedovnický potok suddenly disappears into the caves and comes out in Býčí skála (Bull Rock Cave) close to village Josefov after its 12 km long mysterious journey.

Since 1956, due to its extraordinary karst phenomena and precious fauna and flora, the Moravian Karst has been protected area. Already in this year it became the Protected Landscape Area of Moravian Karst. In addition, most valuable parts are extra protected in 14 Nature Reserves, where you can find living and non-living parts of nature as well. For example, Cortusa Mathiolli lives only on the bottom of Macocha Abyss. The karst area is also wintering place for bats – typical representatives of cave fauna in Moravian Karst.

It is a system of caves, 2 kilometers from the Information Center Skalní mlýn (rock mill. The caves are the longest system in the Czech Republic (Amatérská Caves - amateur cave - the length to 30 kilometers). During the tour you will see huge domes with rich stalactite decoration, floor Macocha in the depth of 138.5 meters and the electric boats in the Punkva underground river sg Wasserdome with the break in Masarykdom - the nicest room of Punkvagrotten. The tour length is approximately 60 minutes. The Punkvagrotten are open year round. You can buy tickets on the spot, but we recommend in the season before in the presence of the rock mill or in the Information Center at the upper bridge of Macocha.

HI Adrian
Looks spooky and one should not suffer from claustrophobia when visiting caves. I have yet to visit the NY caves, always something happening that cancels my plans.
Interesting and fascinating details with the light hitting at the right place.

Hello Adrian,

You have done well to produce such clarity inside the darkness of the cave. Your upped ISO has done a good job.
Excellent sharpness really capturing the distinctive textures and shapes of the stalagmites and stalagtites.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Bonjour Adrian.

odile
