A picture from my archives - my archives consist of a cardboard box in the loft!

I was on a university expedition to East Greenland in July, 1970 and travelled by boat with a friend up Nordvest Fjord, the longest fjord in the World, which runs in a north-westerly direction into the heart of Greenland, itself the largest of the World's islands.

This picture was taken after passing Nordost Bugt: the mountains on either side of the fjord at this point rise to over 7,500 feet.

I was impressed by the clarity of the air in East Greenland - because of lack of air pollution, one does not appreciate distance quite the same: the small island in the foreground is perhaps only a few hundred yards away whereas the mountains in the background are much more distant and probably of the order of 5,000 or 6,000 feet high.

I hope you like this one - it brings back lovely memories for me. Incidentally, I have posted a couple of pictures of this place on TrekEarth and TrekNature, if you want a look.

Excellent John. Well composed, lovely colour and fine detail. I know what you mean about the pure air, Tasmania is reputed to have the purest air in the developed world. TFS,
David

Hello John,

Very good image, and well captured. Reflection on the water is adding beauty. Nice and detailed.
I have cropped the image from top and bottom, and uploaded workshop. Hope you would like it.

Hi John,

It's like painting. Beautiful landscape.
I agree with Mihir to crop the bottom part, and it will focus on the mountain reflection.
I like your note, it definitely enhances my knowledge. This place will be affected by global warming. It sad.
Thank ou for sharing the picture and the note.

Cheers,
Tjutjut

Hi John, very well taken at a time before there was so much pollution. Good film, too, I must say. Your pov was great!

Hi John
Smashing picture, good colours / saturation. I think the sky is what makes your pic. I have taken the ;iberty of doing a WS on this pic. I hope you don't object let me know if you like it or not. As is my penchant its in good old B+W and I think it totally changes the shot,

Best wishes

Kenny
