Mushroom on the beach.
B&W photos can be a challenge to make, there is no compromise it is either good or bad. I have here tried to mix color and B&W, and I hope you like the result.
The photo is taken on the beach in Solroed Strand (Solroed Beach) where I live. This beach is less than 5 min walk from my home.
My wife and I often take a walk there, just to relax and to experience the different between winter, spring, summer and autumn. These mushrooms are more ore less rare in this sandy area. In side the forest there is a lot off them but on the beach no. I was lucky I found not one but several off them in the border between the beach and the forest.

Speed. 1/200 sec.
f. 8,0
ISO 400
Focal length 85 mm.

PP work, cropped the mushroom cut out, rest converted to B&W, the copy replaced, contrast and light adjusted, resized and posted.

Thanks for taking you time to look, hope you like it.
Jens.

nice notes

Hello Jens,
Super image, colours vivid.
lovely colour and details.
Very well!
Congratulations.

Behram..

Hello Jens,

This is an interesting idea and I know you like to experiment with shots. The image of the mushroom is really sharp and detailed. It certainly stands out against the B&W b/g -= good pp work.

I would have liked to see the original, perhaps in your workshop.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Many thanks for your kind comments on Retrospective Shadows.

Nice B&W Jens - but u missed a spot in the middle of the picture - haha, a joke. I have tried to make a B&W with a red flower in the middle, but it did not turn out as nice as yours. TFS.

This turned out really well! I'm impressed! So far I've not learnt how to do anything like this. A great job! TFS

Hi Jens

Excellent shot here and really good desaturation work

TFS regards Helen

Hi Jens,
a nice picture here of the mushroom. I thought you painted the red color on untill I saw the original. The B&W really shows how red the mushroom is. Well done, TFS

Hi jens
very pretty macro.
Good detail.
Gr Jos

Hi Jens,
The desaturation is perfect. Now the red hood of the mushroom is perfectly shown. Only the composition can be imprved in my opinion. The mushroom is too much in the centre of the image, a bit cropping of the left or right will improve it. Neverthelessa very nice posting Jens!

Excellent PP work Jens, it has taken a very ordinary subject and made it into something interesting. Good tones in the BW part and the cap of the mushroom stands out very well. Somewhere way back in my gallery I have one similar, down here some people use them as a hallucinator. TFS,
David

Many thanks for your comment on ‘More Belated Birthdays’

Hello Jens

good weekend my friend
John

Well done Jens, this effect of making BW the surrounding area of the focul point works really well in this composition. Very creative. - Vincent

So you have it all, when on the beach immediately after that a forrest as well. Lucky you.
No mushrooms can grow on the beach area or so I thought - must be rare indeed. You really show of the red toads stool here - very poisenous but lovely to see.

Hi Jens,
It seems like You'd like to enter the club of fungimen. :) Very nice PP-work. in this form the grassblades, which partially hide the mushroom aren't so disturbing. Brilliant idea, nicely showing how to create something noteworthy from an originally mediocre image (WS). Big congrats, and of course, tfs. Greetings, László

Jens
a pleasure to see. Sharp and good of color TFS
Vandana

Hi Jens,

Impressive and very creative shot! I like the very low level POV and composition. The splash of color of the mushroom is a very artistic touch.
TFS,
Vassilis
