CPH Photo Marathon - 10. City Life
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This is the 10th photo I took during the Copenhagen Photo Marathon 2008.
The theme for this photo was City Life.
There are many public parks spread out across Copenhagen and people frequently use them for relaxing, eating take out, playing games and other activities.
When I found this guy taking a nap on a bench I thought that it would make a great photo for the theme. He has found a quiet and peaceful place to take a rest in the middle of the buzzing city.
I’ve uploaded 9th, 11th and 12th photo in the workshop.
The competition rules did not allow for any photo manipulation or PP at all. All had to be done in camera. These are straight from my G9 with only resize.
The winners of the competition have been announced and you can see the photos on www.fotomaraton.dk. The English part of the site is not up to date but click Galleri in the top and the Vinderbilleder 2008. You need to select the 1st, 2nd or 3rd price in the bottom dropdown. There were two competitions, Digital and Classic. |

Always a tough call with shots like this.
To post, or not to post. It's doubtful you had his permission to put this on the Internet, would he have given it? Legally you have no obligation to ask, morally and ethically should you? Would you be happy for a photo of you sleeping to be posted?
As much as possible I try to ask permission to take photos, if nothing more than to make sure they can see I have a camera and am taking their photo.
In this case, of course, you really had no option, but I say all this because I always feel uneasy with this kind of shot.
Good light, sharpness, tones, although perhaps a tiny clockwise rotation?

Hi Jens,
I guess you gotta where and when you can. I like the shot. The colors contrast nicely, and I think it shows city life. The image is sharp and the light is good. Nice work.
Regards,
Kevin
I like your perspective in your composition.
What a great shot.

Interesting shot...the subject is well framed in the picture. This actually looks like a location I could use for an engagement session. I've always wondered how these guys can sleep with all the noise around. TFS!
