Kiek in de kök was built in its initial form from 1473-1483 and was the most imposing guard tower in the Baltic Sea region.
The tower has had many names. The current one, adopted in 1696, means „Peek into the kitchen” from the 45,5 m rampart.
Medieval soldiers joked that from its top, they could see right into the kitchens of the houses below - hence the odd name.
The picture is taken from Vabaduse plats (freedom square).

Oh, memories of Tallinn - would like to return back there but...

Talking about the pic - probably would be better if you didn't cut the top of the tower or if it's just hidden under the frame, I'd suggest to move the frame a bit up... But that's just my opinion.

Anyhow - I like the way it looks and what it tells about the city.. One can see that Old Town is quiet place, there are almost noone in the park, just few people going up the hill, on the contrary - today's life - quite many people waiting for the bus and quite many cars in parking lot and on the street.

Good shot. It emphasizes the monumentalism of towers. Subdued colours of walls harmonize good with red roofs.
By the way, in Gdansk we have tower "Kiek in de kök" too.
