This is one of my favorite photo. It was almost sunset in August 2002 when I saw this nondescript building with a long blank wall on the second floor level. There is a small window awkwardly located near the center of the wall. But there is something that caught my eye, the open panel of the wood casement window is casting a diagonal shadow on the rough plaster wall. The rough texture of the wall is emphasized by the varying shades of the plaster undulations. The tree beside the buildings casts part of its shadows near the window. Composing the shot was easy.

Helsinki is in the southern part of Finland. The Finns or should I say all the Scandinavian people are so design conscious it is a delight to go through their shops with all the items superbly designed. Unfortunately my pocket is not rich enough to pay for their wares.

This photograph was taken using my old Nikon 5700. It is a tough little camera. I dropped it on the cobble stone pavement of Moscow at a height of about 6 feet. I was so shaken when it happened but the camera was not. It kept on shooting.

Una imagen sencilla pero bella. Esa luz hace resaltar la textura de la pared de forma que se notan todos los detalles. Me gusta

A simple but beautiful image. That light emphasizes the texture of the wall so that all the details notice. Made very well

Nice shot, Andre!
I like those "one window" photos. However, I'd probably composed it so that the whole shadow of window is visible - in your photo a part of shadow is missing.

Great! THe shadows are fantastic. Even of the window then the tree branch in eclipse!

Great shadows game in this beautiful B&W photo!

This is great! I like everything about it! The B&W was a good choice for this pic, I also like the fact that the window isn't centered in the pic and the detail of the roughness of the wall is very well achieved, the irregularity of the shadows of the glass adds a certain someting. Flawless if you ask me!

i love the simplicity which speaks a million languages here, Andre.....great choice of B&W...and good composition too....the texture of the wall is very captivating. a very strong shot!

Une photo magnifique. Le jeu d'ombres et lumière optimale, l'atmosphère du moment invité à la rêverie au sujet de cette fenêtre à demi ouverte. Bravo Andre!
José A.

A great compo because there are so many things in the pic : the leaves, the window, the shadow, the wall, the light... It makes a beautiful work.

And here's another shot from you, 16 points and that's good, it's a nice and simple picture, simplicity can do a lot in a picture.
As Laine already mentioned, the whole shadow would be nice indeed and maybe a step to the left to "break" the window with the leaves, but I like this one very much, Andrea.

Super textures and contrasts in this one Andre... really enjoy how this has been composed. Great portfolio of images you have.

Nice note about the durability of the 5700.

All the best.

A very nice picture Andre, very well done. I like it a lot, very nice the shadow of the window on the wall.
Best regards
Guy

Linda! Óptima composição! O P&B dá ainda mais intensidade à foto! Gostei! Bons contrastes! Parabéns!

I like the simplicity of this scene. The strong shadows are good. Glad to know your camera didn't break. I'd be shaking too if it were mine.

Hi Andre, great picture:-) I like sharpenes and contrast. It is nice to see details of glass, which is not visible in reality, but only in its shadow:-)
Well presented:-)
Thank you.
