[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This picture was shot inside the inner staircase of the Castle of Chambord in France (Loire Valley). It was darkish, but the ceiling of the staircase had a light.

I used the light and increased the contrast locally to create a more moody picture. I did not use a flash.

More pictures of this castle can be found here.

The stairway is a spiraling stairway. It spirals up from the 1st floor to the top. On the first floor, you can walk into the middle of the spiraling circle/tube. If you look up, you will see this picture, so this picture is taken from the bottom of the stairs. The squares you see are windows (without glass). Behind each window is the stairway.

Actually it is two spiraling stairways with two entrances and two exits on opposite sides of the spiraling circle. If one person goes upstairs and the other one goes downstairs, there is only a 50% chance they'll meet somewhere halfway. :=)

I like very much this asymmetric compo....
I feel it as very dynamic... and it's a picture that need attention to understand the subject... at the first glance can be a computer graphic drawing...
well done
Paolo

Wooh!
Great perspective.
Looks as a frame from the Star Trek ;)
