Oradour sur Glane

I have tried to get the horrible atmosphere in this picture by working it over with PS. Let me know what you think!
History
The massacre that took place in the town of Oradour-sur-Glane, in the Haute-Vienne region of France on Saturday 10th of June 1944. The town had been far from any centre of conflict, was not, nor had ever been an active resistance stronghold. Yet on that Saturday, men from the Der Führer Regiment of the 2nd Waffen SS Panzer Division Das Reich, drove into Oradour and killed everyone that they could find, a total of 642 men, women and children. The town was then looted and every building, set on fire. To this day there is no universally agreed explanation as to why the SS acted as they did, or why they chose Oradour for their attack. All the principal characters on the SS side are now dead and the few French survivors of the town were not given any clues by the troops as to why they were acting as they were.
Histoire

Hi Pim,
I'm not too keen on the superimposed sacred image top right, but the street image is beautifully rendered as it invokes a manic moment in time that should not be forgotten. The sepia colour is perfect.
Best wishes,
Celina

Hoi Pim,

Mooi man

Hi Pim!
In Poland we have a hundreds places where all people was killed by nazis like Oradour.
Nazis were the worstes murderers in the word.
We are lucky to live in peace now.
Your work is excellent.
Regards and TFS.

Hi Pim, Oradour is one of a popular visiting place for friends who visit us. We visited it on a hot summers day, but it had a sombre mood that day, I think you can understand. I really like the effect you have created and of course the inset picture. Well done, thanks for sharing. Tim
Different style completely.....
