The pigeon almost looks like part of the fountain...it's colouring is similar.

From the TN it just look like a fountain.. that bird is the exact color! Funny to see them using the fountain... Wonderful details on the bird and fountain... and great pp work to make the subject stand out!

Yes it's a good idea to eliminate colors around. I find it excellent. First time i see a pigeon drink directly to a fountain! apparently he reflect a part of the colors of the fountain. It give a special harmony and i like that aspect too :)

Good catch!! It's hard with the busy BG but oyu cropped it well, and the bird shows up well. As long as it isn't the drinking tap for humans!! Feral rat is another name for these birds!!

Wow Silke.. this really looks cool! it's almost as if the pigeon is part of the tap here. The appear to have just about the same color!

Well Silke, I never really saw a pigeon do it this way. Funny how such a commonly sighted bird sometimes gives us a great shot. This shot is quite nicely composed with a blurred background that makes this guy stand out. Colors and sharpness of subject are perfect.

Hello Silke!

Cool and refreshing idea. I would only suggest to desaturate everything except the pigeon. IMHO , it would be better to reveal the pigeon, instead of looking at the pigeon and pipe as a whole.

Keep on experimenting.

Precious detail! The thumbnail looked (at least for a moment) as if the pigeon was part of the design! Nice capture!

Hi Silke,
It is perfect this way. The BG colours were indeed much to distracting, so this was the best option. And it is much too nice a picture to disregard, so I can only say: good decision - lovely picture.
