The memorial consists of a colonnade in arc of a circle comprising a loggia at each end.

On the platform, a bronze statue 7 height meters, inside the half-circle formed by the colonnade of the memorial, fact face with the squares of the tombs. It symbolizes "the Spirit of American youth rising Floods". This statue is surrounded of rollers symbolizing the difficulty of the tanks of passing the beach and two olive-trees, symbol of found peace are in background of this statue.

Around his base one can read this inscription «MINE EYES HAVE SEEN THE GLORY OF THE COMING OF THE LORD».

On the walls of the southern loggia three charts engraved in the stone and raised are enamels of color which represent the sites of the troops at the time of the Operation Overlord nickname of code given to the 5 sectors of beaches of the unloading on the coasts of Normandy which had like names :
* Utah Beach,
* Omaha Beach,
* Gold Beach,
* Juno Beach,
* Sword Beach.

With the entry of each loggia two large bronze urns are.

I could benefit not only from one splendid sky blue, the hot light of the end of the afternoon and especially of the schedule close to the closing of the memorial not to have visitors more on photography (what isn't the case on my other catches of sight at the beginning of my visit).

With Paint shop Pro XI, usual adjustment of contrast, the luminosity, and with Photofiltre, adjustment of the gammas and the black frame.

Bonjour Corinne,

Bravo.
Amicalement
Antoine
