6th of June... Today is the 65th anniversary of the Normandy Embarktion, the 'longest day in history'. I begin a short series of commemoration photos of this event from some famous landing beaches. This one was taken at 'Utah Beach', the westernmost area of landing.
In the evening of 5th June, the famous lines of Paul Verlaine were read on BBC Radio Londres, the French language channel of the resistance to indicate the coming of deliberating soldiers.

Good morning Kristof,
A superb tribute to remember the historic Normandy Embarktion. You chose a well composed photo for the occasion, the vignetting enhances the appreciation for this image. I believe President Obama gave a speech for this anniversary observance. Well done and wishing you a good weekend.

Hi Kristof, I wanna say thanks for this picture. Excellent picture for this special anniversary, compliments, Adele

Any one who has ever seen "Saving Private Ryan" Will have an extreme emotional response to this, as well as those that lost love ones and those that were THERE. This is a nice shot Kristof. A piece of history! Well done on the processing! Have you seen the movie? It's shocking.

Hello Kristof,

it's good that there are some photographers here that remind us at important things that happened those days. I was there a few days ago (almost made the same photo).

regards,

Luc.

Bonsoir Kristof
Bonne idée cette mise en valeur de la barge de débarquement avec le vignettage.Do you remember where it is ?I suppose you went too to Arromanches, maybe to the cemetery of Colleville with its white crosses and maybe also that of La Cambe where are burried under impressive black crosses young German who were for some of them, victims too.We must never forget that in THIS "barge" on june 6th , young men were going towards fench lands, ready to sacrifice. It cannot be seen without intense emotion.
Cordialement

PS: there is a mistake in the second verse "coeur" should be instead of "cour"; maybe you noticed it ,but it was too late to change...

Hi Kristof,,
Belle presentation et composition ,
Excellent Note of Nice famous lines of Paul Verlaine, to indicate the coming of deliberating soldiers, le débarquement des troupes en Normandie,

Hi Kristof,

Wonderful presentation here!
Great memories of this historic act of many thousands of young men....
I hope to visit this place in september.

TFS and greetings from Netherlands,
Adri

Ciao Kristof, great celebration for D-Day, beautiful composition with splendid PP work, very well done, have a good Sunday, ciao Silvio

A strange monument, but well captured with your vignette/gradient effect around it, I can imagine this shot in b&w too, I think it would be even more powerful.

I really can't get into the titles-in-frames. They were really popular in posters in the 1980s and 1990s but it looks very old fashioned now.

Bonjour Kristof,

Odile

Interesting memorial with nice border and vignetting.
warm regards
David

I just love the whole idea. Bravo well handled.
