Pilot? A tough job!

Well here an impression of a Dutch Air Force pilot in action.

As you can see the job of a pilot is a though job. He must be concentrating on his duty and well his duty after the air show at Reims last weekend.

Anyway he's preparing the job he can't ignore....drinking an ice cold beer at the pub after the show! As you can see his navigator is totally committed and guarding the precious helmet.

Well that's the fun part. Regarding the picture I used CS3 to add an different more interesting sky. Selected the sky which was very dull and add the inverse selection to a picture with a more attractive sky. After adding these two pictures, I flatten the layers and adjusted the highlights and shadows a bit. Resized, sharpened and finally add a small frame.

You're quite right Hans - it's damn hard work being a pilot!! Even more correct about planning for the ice cold beer at the end of the days' work...
Nice candid shot - sharp focus and the inclusion of the helmet and mascot is great!!

Cheers
DAvid

Hi Hans,
A fabulous documentary shot of this pilot having a siesta on the wings of his aircraft.
A great capture well balanced and composed.
Marvelous lighting, especially on the sleeping pilot and his helmet!
A very clean presentation!
Well done

Hi Hans, I can only imagine the stress of being a pilot of one of these planes. It's nice that he has a sense of humor too with his copilot guarding his helmet. I don't think I've ever seen a pilot taking a nap on the wing of the plane. Nice amusing shot, really gives us a feel for the size of the plane too.

Hi Hans,

Although this shot is quite humorous, I think it also points to how tough these guys are. I don't think there are too many of us that can catch a few winks on the wing of one of these birds.

Good catch and great execution with this shot. It's good that you included the co-pilot, they never get enough credit!

TFS,
Werner

Hi Hans
Unusual perspective of «the job». Very funny moment (I love the detail of the dog near the helmet, as if it was taking «care» of master sleep).
Great perspective with the lines of the plain adding a pleasant movement to the photo. Excellent colours and light.
Another great photo.
Cheers, mb

Hi Hans
Well, I suppose as this guy trusts that machinery with his life - and has to be come part of it whenever he flies - this relationship between pilot and plane is part of the deal.

Tidy composition, with the helmet and doggie (??) in the lower left corner. Nice subtle post work.

funny shot, these men and women deserve all the rest they can get! they are the worlds best at what they do!
take care hans, nice shot,
scott

Bonsoir Hans and thank you for your critique.
There is also fun here and in your title; I overall like the diagonal composition and the discordance between this hard job and the relaxing attitude of the pilot or the mascotte near the helmet
New sky fits perfectly

Best regards
Henri

haahhahah yep.. sure looks like hard labour!
I think you grant us a real nice view on the pilot and his wing...
All in all it's not showing that you replaced the sky... nice job indeed, coz it looks really natural, specially with the light on the wing and the pilot's head.

Cheers,
Anneke

Hello Hans,
It is not easy to be a pilot.
Concentrate at all the time.
Well captured moment and well presented.
Small toy with his helmet is an extra bonus here.

Hi Hans,
Great photo, looks like a great spot to be soaking in the sun. That helmet is probably worth more than my car! Better hope the guard dog does a good job, lol. Nice work with the sky conversion, there is some haloing around the plane's wing but it's nothing too serious. Well cropped, good use of the afternoon light.

TFS,
Scott.

Hi Hans,
Funny moment, you captured it very well. :) But I'm sure it's not easy to deal with such a beast in the air. :) Photographically, a sharp and detailed photo with good enlightment, well-balanced composition. Funny shot, nice job! TFS!
Greetings,
Kristof

Hi Hansie :)

Yep, the F16 proves to be THE most expensive sun lounger in the world.

Nice PP work, but to make the picture you had to spot the subject.

Good catch,
well done
