Bonjour Laurent,

Bravo!

This is really powerful and dark and wonderful. It is almost a dystopia shot. Nothing else in the world or the surroundings are distinct except for the hint of that barbed jagged wire in-focus. Excellent use of a very shallow depth of field to only focus on that bit of wire, and I love the point of view chosen to achieve that. The black and white emphasizes the dark and light, with the dark dominating the shot and even the lighter tones being faded and darkened at the sides. Amazing sense of ambiguity and despair with all that black in the bottom two-thirds. This shot could be taken anywhere, in any time period, in any country. Great with the inclusion of the dark object at the upper left edge to balance with the out-of-focus wire post in the background. Good vertical cropping chosen to keep balance and focus and to emphasize the black "pit" below. I would love to know where you took this shot and what the idea was behind it. This is just stunning. It's poetic and says so much with such a simple and stark composition. Incredible, TFS!
