[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note [French]
When I saw the boat Pilote "Rollon" to put itself in the passage of the channel allowing the tradind ships to return between the southern headlight which are not visible here, and the northern headlight which one can see at the end of one of the piers protecting the entry from the port of Fécamp (narrow entry of the port, frightening passage when the storm occurs, I was born there and is lived there 45 years and I saw exits and entries under strong storms and that which seems a small "nut hull", fills on missions incredibles), I knew that the tide was high, and that it awaited and that it awaited the way out of a commercial ship it at sea the pilot who helps the commander to pass in the narrow channel and to be able to leave in Manche, sea bordering the town of Fécamp.I could benefit from the operations carried out to photograph it with it doesn't engage and disappears from my sight.

The port of Fécamp is located between Le Havre and Dieppe, it's composed of 5 basins, 9 quays of 80 with 300m length and a channel of access of 220 m for 70 m broad.

The pilot boat is a fast boat which is used to transport the pilot aboard the ships which arrive or leave the port. This ship belongs to the station of piloting of the port concerned.

The pilot boat is also called "pilotine". It can be built especially to carry out this work. The pilot boat in service of piloting must show in supplement the other fires prescribed for a ship its length, two visible fires superimposed on all the horizon, higher fire being white and red lower fire. For the small history: these fires are memorized by the sentence " white hair, red nose ", which isn't very flattering for the pilots.
It also helps to push the ships along the quay as well as possible so that stowing occurs. It has a very powerful engine, tomorrow, I hope to get information near the harbour office to know the power of this one, I would put it in another photography, the representative near of the headlight.

To present my photography, I took as a starting point the the "Style of Perryhooter", our Canadian friend, who knows so well and the ships photograph them which come in the Trois-Rivieres harbour on the St-Lawrence river channel, where it works and their history counts to us or I should rather say their life.

For you Robert :O) with my respect and my friendship

Salut Corine,

Salut Corinne,
