Colonia Nemasus ... latin word for the colony of Nîmes, at a time when romans had invaded the south of France : Cesar's Empire spread to Nimes and forward ... except the arena and some other monuments, Nimes still have symbols : the crocodile and the palm tree ....of the other part of the empire !
