Painting in Toulouse

While strolling through the city of Toulouse I visited a small church in one of the narrow streets. Surprisingly the hall was like a little museum and nobody was there. Although the light circumstances were very poor I took the change to take some impressions of this "museum".

Increased the ISO up to 620 ASA, used the 1/40 and f/3.5 aperture, hand hold, with this picture as result.

PP work: used perspective crop to correct the wall as good as possible, adjusted brightness and contrast, selected painting and increased the brightness of it a little bit more.

Hi Hans

It's a masterpiece! And the photo's not bad, either! Howdy TL neighbor in the gallery today. Well managed, low interior light levels, with good diffused light & excellent colour & sharpness. Tfs!

Hi Hansie
I went through Toulouse last century!!! But unfortunately we didn't stop...
I'd like to see the painting up closer - but the composition works out well, and the higher ISO certainly has helped. The doorways show us how large the painting really is - nicely captured
Janice

Hi Hans,
The compositional focus appears to be the painting. It is sharp, leveled, and with fine colors. This is a well exposed and composed indoor image. Looks like you are having fun with your D300. Regards.
Danilo

I guess I am a drama queen, I see opportunity for more drama here! The subject matter is the painting, yet the surroundings are lighter and brighter than the painting, so I propose a WS! Hope you like it!
B-)
I like your idea here, but the light can be made to accent the photo!

Hi Hans,
I like much the simplicity of your photo rendering perfectly the ambiance of this small church! The composition enhances the purety of the architectural lines and puts the emphase on the painting. This is nicely done!
Bravo!Annie

Hi Hans - I like the shot, the painting is clear and stands out nicely and the centrality actually works well. I don't think the 1/3rds rule would be so apt..

I probably would have cloned the shadowy bit at top left as it's a little distracting but definitely a good image.

Cheers
David
