Hello Everyone,

Today, I am posting a shot whch I took whilst on holiday in France. I have never been to this area before but found some aspects beautiful, beyond what I had expected.

This shot, taken in the gathering evening light was taken looking across the bay at Cannes. The rocks made an impressive foreground but what I liked most was the light in the sky. Sunsets don't usually have descending sunbeams! I noticed here, that the sunbeams were descending onto the distant hills.

The figure on the rocks was stationary for quite a while so I took the opportunity of including him in my shot. Was he meditating, wishing, or maybe just enjoying the evening light, too!

Many thanks for your interest.
Please feel free to offer feedback on any aspect of the photograph. :-)

Hi Bev, Rew has given you a good critique - I agree with him.
But I do like the colours here, especially with the sun's rays shining down through the clouds. Such unusual colours and they colour the whole scene

Hi Bev,
Yep, like this compo. Strong and well balanced, the slight noise is as far as I'm concerned, part of this artistic impression. Wonderful soft colours. Great presentation!

A very beautiful sky!! I've heard so much about this place, and the scenery is just as lovely I was would expect. Nice composition and I like the detail of the rocks in the foreground. The man is a nice addition as well. TFS

Hi Bev,
Beautiful view and excellent perspective.
Excellent soft colours and composition.TFS

Nice work here overall - the colour tones and the light are both nice. I'm not so sure about the composition, maybe it would've worked better with fewer rocks in the foreground although you were probably wanting to place them at the 'rule of thirds' point in the frame?

The distant shore, in my opinion, should be level - like a horizon line - instead of tilted as we see here.

Perhaps a crop from top and bottom and a slight rotate to correct?

Hello Beverly.
Nice 'warm' picture of lovely Cannes.
Those rocks.!
Too many of it, out there in the sea, ones it hurt my foot badly.
Better to stay at the boulevard, haha
Can see you enjoyed your vacation well.
Regards from Jan

hello

quelle doucuer dans ces couleurs, un calme, de la sérénité, une superbe image, avec ces tons rose, ces gros cailloux, le personnage qui donne l'immensité, superbe.

Bravo et amitié

Nicou

Very nice atmosphere with nice colours and light ! Well done !
Greetings

I meant to stop by this yesterday but ran out of cash! LOL! This is GORGEOUS Bev, excellent processing, love the color, the ONLY thing that struck me that could be improved is the straightness of the horizon line. Other than that you nailed it! Good work!

Hi Bev,

Must say that on our last evening in Texel, we also did see the descending sunbeams, must have something to do with the cloud formation and when that is just right, you get this wonderful effect.
Love your composition - it makes me feel as if I am the one standing on the rocks and enjoying this moment, like the figure you included in your shot.

Well composed and moody indeed. The boulders in the foreground confer an effect of depth.

Hello Bev,
The sumptuous colors are the highlights. There is good depth and focus on the entire frame. The clouds and the rays of light emanating are well defined, and the textured rocks on the f/g are sharp. My compliments. Danilo

Jolie composition, joli cadre...
J'aime bien les tons egalement...

Hi Bev. Excellent capture of the mood with pleasant ambiance of the fanning ray. Love the pov and the man on the clear looking rock. Best regards. Jusni

A moment for dreaming was definitely tilted Bev, this one is decieving as I pointed out to Rew. Saving the file and zoomimg proves that vertical and horizontal perspectives on the buildings is nigh on perfect so the coastline and the angle you took the photo at makes the caostline appear tilted. Nice colour tones and the rays well captured,
David

Beautifully soft rendering of the sunset. I like the pastel like colours and the rich textures in the foreground. The horizon is tilting to the right - which is a bit distracting, but nothing that cannot be fixed. Good work!
