Once upon a time there was a prince who lived in a wealthy kingdom. When he had reached the proper age his mother the queen decided the time was right to find a bride. The prince however was determined not to marry just any girl, and decided that his future wife should be a "real" princess. So he traveled the world and searched in all the kingdoms and met with all the princesses, but he still wasn't satisfied.

Then, one stormy night, a girl claiming to be a true princess came knocking at the castle door. Although no one believed her, she was invited in to stay for the night. The queen then planned to test the young girl's claim and went into the bed-room, took all the bedding off the bedstead, and laid a pea on the bottom; then she took twenty mattresses and laid them on the pea, and then she laid twenty eider-down beds on top of the mattresses. On this the princess had to sleep all night. The next morning when the girl woke up, the queen asked how she slept.

"Oh, very poorly!" she said. "I scarcely closed my eyes all night. Heaven only knows what was in the bed, but I was lying on something hard, and now I am black and blue all over my body. It's horrible!"

The queen then immediately ordered a wedding. Only a true princess could have such delicate skin as to feel a pea through forty layers of bed sheets.

The pea was placed in the collection of objets d'art, where one can still see it whether nobody carried it ....... ;OD

HI Corinne,
I love it - so creative and with excellent quality. I like this arrangement so much, thanks and greetings

Hi Corinne, this is excellant! Love everything about this. Green on white is very attractive and your whites are very pleasing. The peas are nicely placed and your shallow depth and selective focus make this a very interesting piece of work. I really like the little curly that's in the focus point...almost like a signature:) Very VERY nice work Corinne and thanks for sharing this work of art!

Hello, Corinne.

What a wonderful story and what a beautiful photograph - could you tell us what lighting you used for this one? The lighting really is superb. So beautifully exposed and focussed too.

Well done!

Best Wishes,

John.

Hi Princess,
Excellent work mon ami, perfect DOF with the blurred FG and sharp mid part. The contrast between layer and object (peas) is excellent. A fine posting, my compliments and TFS!
Hans

Wow, another great one! The use of the white background here is wonderful, it really makes the pea pod pop out and the colors of the peas are more vivid too. Great really shallow DOF that creates a balance between the in-focus peas and the left end of the pod. Good balance and composition with the pea pod set diagonally across the frame and really wonderful lighting coming from the right side. The detail and textures are excellent, the peas looks so smooth while you can see some of the green strings on the edge of the opening in the pod. Nice soft shadows for contrast too. Just beautiful! TFS!
