in ballade, hair with the wind, traversing the countryside, in this beautiful sunny day. A quite pleasant program, not? And all that at the wheel of this splendid Hotchkiss 686. You know? No, then here a little its story

-------------------------------------------------------

Benjamin Berkeley Hotchkiss, American of Connecticut, had assembled a factory of ammunition to France. During five years which was to last the American civil war, Hotchkiss was to manufacture ammunition for the armies of north and to thus pile up a considerable fortune. Hotchkiss died in 1885, without never to have seen a car.

From 1900, the factory manufactures automobile parts for the French marks like Dion Bouton or Panhard & Levassor. It is the good choice there and, in 1902, an automobile department is created within the company. The following year, first Hotchkiss leave the factory.

From 1914 to 1918 during the First World War, certain Hotchkiss cars are still assembled in the factory of Saint-Denis, but the production will begin again really only in 1919.

In the Twenties, Hotchkiss returns in the world of the competition. After having gained some minor races, Hotchkiss 411 is essential in 1932 on Monte-Carlo. This success inflates the sales and makes pass the rate/rhythm of production to six hundred vehicles per month.

But the sales don't go rather well and, after having joined to Gregoire, Hotchkiss links itself in Delahaye in 1954, the year of the final suspension of the production of cars. In 1956, Brandt repurchases Hotchkiss and markets trucks under the Hotchkiss-Leyland mark. In 1971, after being repurchased by Citroen, Hotchkiss definitively ceases existing.

At last April, I had attended a superb concentration of old cars in Niort. I did a PP work to isolate this one from the others around and especially of the signs of store because the meeting took place on a parking in full commercial zone. I had a long work with the magnetic lasso of Paint shop Pro and gumming. Then usual adjustment, contrast, luminosity and other. I made a black and the frame which gives the impression that the car will leave this one.

I hope that you will like the result of this handling.

Excellent travail de PP. Superbe capture.
Bien vu
Pierre

Very beautiful picture of this car. Sharp and with nice colors.
The only thing that I don't like is the black background since you don't see the tires. But I love these old cars.

Hi Corinne, great way to show off an antique car, shot at a show,it is very difficult to just get an image of only a car
amongst all the other distractions, the buildings, signs, people etc,so I applaud how you have posted your image,it must have taken a little work & patience to get this great final image, very vibrant, who would not want to take a spin in it.

Ron

Bonjour Corinne

Hi Corinne,

Well done and good pp-work. A pity though that you used black for the background as the tires don't show. Minor detail. Great framework, nice curvy car. Well done Corinne, thanks for sharing! Greetings from Bianca.

Hello corinne,

Beautiful car here :) Sharp, lovely colors, and composition. TFS

Bonjour Corinne,
J'embarque quand tu veux .

Bisousss

Bonjour Corinne!
