[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note [French]
In Roman mythology, Cupid (of Latin "cupido", meaning "desire") is the god of the Love. Venus wire, goddess of the Love and the Beauty, it corresponds to Eros in Greek mythology. This young god was in love with beautiful Psyché... He is represented today by a naked, sometimes winged child, provided with an arc and arrows. It's told that if one of its arrows to the silver points reaches you, you fall madly in love with the first nobody whom you meet... Often its eyes are bandaged, translating the blindness of the love.
The day of the St. Valentine's day was celebrated a long time as being the festival of the single people and not couples. The feastday, the unmarried girls dispersed in the neighbourhoods of their village and hid while waiting for that the young unmarried boys find them. At the end of this giant hide-and-seek, the formed couples were brought to marry in the year. This made it possible to develop demography and to stimulate the expansion of the villages.
