[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note [French]
On the edges of the quays of Sévre (river which go in Niort), meet, ducks, birds of all kinds thus pigeons. I was able to phograph that with a good focus, having come dow by a staircase which brought me on edges of the water, by returning this pigeon was thus more in height my eyes.

The pigeons are birds of the family of Columbidae, living originally in the forest circles but having spread, for certain sorts, with plain and in cities, and feeding mainly on seeds, but with a regime very widened around the places where the food waste is available on them, what sometimes makes them qualify as urban garbage men.

Weighing on average from 200 to 600 g, these birds belong to several sorts. We find them in all the continents. The pigeon lives between 5 and 10 years and (generally) shape stable couples. The male and the female share all the tasks, including that to feed pigeonneaux with the "milk" which they produce by means of a gland of their crop.

In 2007 at the University of Frankfurt (Germany), the team of Gerta Fleissner put in evidence a complex nervous structure in the skin of the top of the beak of the pigeon.

This structure containing particles of magnetite and maghémite ( two iron oxides) would be sensitive to the ground magnetic field, being so of use as magnetometer to the pigeon during its flight..
