A small walk in the Marsh of Poitou region". A small stream and a house which we can reach with one of this little boat that here a "plate", a garden decorated with flowers in retreat, some water lilies touching the water, the sun which gives a sweet light of the end of day and I find the so peaceful scene(stage). (Poitevin Marsh) is a large area of marshland in Western France, a remnant of the former Gulf of Poitou (the name meaning "Poitou's Marsh", "Marsh of Poitou region"). It consists for two thirds of a western zone near the sea called the "dry marsh" (or "dried marsh"), used for farming and breeding, and for one third of an eastern zone called the "wet marsh", a maze of islets criss-crossed by picturesque canals now used for touristic rowboating and nicknamed The Green Venice (la Venise Verte).
With a surface area of 970 km², it is the largest marsh on the Atlantic coast and the second largest of the whole country (after the Camargue). Extending across three departments (Vendée, Deux-Sèvres, and Charente-Maritime), it is situated west of Niort, north of La Rochelle, and south of Fontenay-le-Comte.

Although the area was declared a Regional Natural Park (parc naturel régional) in 1979, it lost that status in 1997 as intensive agricultural development around the Marsh meant the unique character of the region was endangered, leaving only a core Interregional Park (Parc Interrégional du Marais poitevin) of 185 km². Attempts to get back the full Park label started in 2002, leading to a new chart being proposed in 2006; accepted by the local authorities, it was rejected in late 2008 by the government due to a perceived "juridical fragility".

Tourism includes boating in traditional barques, which is a form of punting. There are several piers (embarcadères), from which boats can be hired. The myriad canals are covered in green duckweed (hence the Green Venice nickname) and the drained marsh land is home to a varied fauna.

The Marais Poitevin is also the most important area of angelica cultivation in France.

Affichant encore une amende. Je suis heureux de vous voir ici à nouveau sur TL, malgré toutes les difficultés que vous avez eu dans le passé. Nice composition des bateaux contre le fond vert. Marais poitevin ne pas nous rendre dans ce domaine ;année dernière? En tout cas une belle photo mon cher Cocky.

Peaceful indeed. A lovely shot, nicely composed with attractive colours. I particularly like the hint of a path heading off behind the boats - it draws the viewer into the scene.

De retour après un long mois de travail intense,
je suis très heureuse de te retrouver parmi mes favoris!
Cette image est vraiment romantique. J'aime particulièrement les couleurs de ce paysage. Tout semble si doux sous cette lumière presque tamisée. Excellent rendu de cette atmosphère! J'imagine que ce devait être un grand bonheur que de s'y promener!

une scène en effet bien paisible où tout est sérénité:
un site ombragé irisé de quelques touches de couleurs et un cours d'eau à peine froissé d'ondes légères où l'on aimerait se laisser porter.

Je l'avais remarqué cette photo lorsque tu l'avais posté mais je n'ai pas eu le temps d'y mettre un petit mot.
Comme tous, je la trouve charmante, romantique et un peu nostalgique aussi (avis perso bien sur!) car il est où ce temps ou l'homme ne saccagait pas la nature ?

Un type de paysage que j'ai bien connu lorsque j'étais ado; même si c'étaient les marais de Bourges.
