Le Phare des Baleines

Lighthouse of I'lle de Ré

Took this shot last year in France traveling together with Corinne (Coquelicot79). It took quite some effort to get those yellow flowers into the view together with the light house. Anyway because is was a bit windy and the flowers moved, I couldn't get a high f-stop as wished together with a reasonable shutter speed to freeze the movement of the flowers. But I think the f/8 and 1/250 sec did it reasonable well.

PP work: Small perspective crop, adjustment of brightness and contrast even like de adjusment of the shadows (+5%). Resized and sharpened, add small frame.

Hi Hans

A superb shot of the Baleines Lighthouse. I like the warm cold colour contrast, between the yellow flowers & the blue sky. Fantastic upward pov, with good sharpness & graphism, & the note is informative. Tfs!

Hello Hans,

Excellent shot.
Great POV, nice composition and natural colors.
I think that exposure of f/8 and 1/250 is enough to freeze the movement of the flowers.

Best regards,
Tatjana

Hoi Hans,
Groeten,
Niek

Hi Hans,
I like the extreme low POV here! The lighthouse and flowers stand out nicely. Did you work with highlight? There is a light halo surrounding the top of the headlight. Excellent focus on the flowers, their crisp colors make an interesting foreground.
Bravo! Annie

Bonjour Hans,

My grandfather was born in Saint Martin, not far from this lighthouse, and whenever I come back to France I visit the Island. I love to climb up to the top of this lighthouse because it is always windy there. I took pictures of the landscape, inside the stairs, from the windows, but I did not think of this composition. I really enjoy this one!
I like the way you kept it off-centered, plus the small part of sky over it.
Your settings are good enough, even if ou could have tried for a 1/400, for more contrast.

Damien (point system off).

Hi Hans:
I am truly impressed by what you can 'see' before you captured...I would have seen this as an ordinary sight butyou really brought extr-ordinary here...the sky did great here for you with you excellent exposures!!!
David

Hans
Excellente photo de ce célèbre phare aux dimensions impressionnantes que ta prise de vue en contreplongée amplifie encore.
Amicalement
JJ
