[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note [Dutch]
One of the strangest leaded glass windows I've seen in a church.

This one is not depicting the life of one saint or another, but the lives of the brave men that invaded Nazi-occupied France on June 6th, 1944.
As Sainte-Mère-Eglise is famous for the landings of American paratroopers from 82nd Division (and some of 101st Division as well), they chose to portray some paratroopers. Or is it just because these men came from heaven ? (And many of them just landed straight into hell, alas).

PP: Scanned from printed photo.

I shot this glass from below, so I had to use a vertical perspective distortion filter (-23). (Thanks to TE's Georges Petit for the tip...)

Downsized for TL, sharpened, selected the glasses containing the text below, and extra sharpened these.

Added soft frame (2 pixels).

Yes, i have seen this window on TV recently when they resumed the anniversary of the liberation of occupied France by the allies. It is nice and funny you have it here on TL. Most of leaded glass windows ('vitraux') are nice, if not splendid or spectacular. There was some at our University's library and I used to dream looking at them instead of studying. - Great picture in perfect perspective (corrected) and amazing colors. Thanks for showing this.

Wat een foto! ongelooflijk prachtig, en die kleuren, mooi, mooi, mooi.

I like the vertical frame on this one. Good idea to concentrate on the leaded glass. Colors came out nice, but there are certain words I can't make out in the note.

"Ce vitrail à été exécuter avec le (?) de Paul Renaud (?) (?) À la (?) de ceux qui par leur courage (?) leur sacrifice ont libéré (?) mère église et la France"

Was it more readable before the sharpening? I'm curious about that perspective distortion filter you used (it did a great job). TFS.

I like it. Great work. Congrats

Very nice photo with great lihgting and soft pal colors! Very nice!

I know that it is not easy to take that kind of picture... very well done Frank.
Ce genre de photo n'est pas facile à faire or vous l'avez très bien réussie. Félicitation

I don't think it's a saint, but the virgin Mary. Do you really think they're landing in hell? Doesn't look like it to me.
