[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Les Invalides in Paris consists of a complex of buildings in the 7th arrondissement containing museums and monuments, all relating to the military history of France, as well as a hospital and a retirement home for war veterans, the building's original purpose. It is also the burial site for some of France's war heroes.
The Invalides were created under Louis XIV to come to the aid of old soldiers who had been forced into either panhandling or subsiding on church charity. So the institution of the Invalides was created in 1670 and quickly became home to a number of wounded soldiers. The plans were carried out by Libéral Bruan, and construction was finished in 1676. The dome crowning the church is the work of Jules Hardouin Mansart, and is a perfect symbol of the spendour Louis XIV wanted under his reign. The Church of St-Louis des Invalides, whose construction predates the dome, is Hardouin-Mansart's work as well, and many flags stolen from the enemy were hung here as decoration.

This is really a beautiful picture Alex.
Love the light here; something tells me this was taken early either in the evening or early morning...
I prefer taking pics early in the morning or in the early evening. The light in most places is very special then.

Great details showing here and I love the composition.

Cheers!
Anneke

Hi Alex,
Wonderful view of this place. You captured an excellent light, here! I like your POV with the emphase on the golden domes! Bravo! Annie

Hi Alex,
Composition-wise all lines are pointing in the same direction and leading the eye to l'Hotel des Invalides.
But I just enjoy the picture with the gold.
TFS picture and information,
Els

Hi Alex,
Another excellent view of Paris. Perfect depth in this panorama. The trees on both sides act as frame. The lights of the cars makes it an attractive photo.

Many thanks for your comment on ‘Happy Belated Birthday Shelby’

Beautiful building and interesting note. The image is excellent because of the light and well centered building. The street is a nice focal point that leads the eyes straight to the main subject. A well thought and composed image. You used light nicely to give the image good exposure. Lovely place Alex :-)
