La Nuit Americaine
Year: 1973
Director: Francois Truffaut
Stars: Jacqueline Bisset, Valentina Cortese, Jean-Pierre-Leaud, Dani, Jean-Pierre Aumont, Alexandra Stewart, Francois Truffaut, Nathalie Baye, David Markham, Nike Arrighi
Where does make- believe end and reality begin? On the big screen, this often finite line has been examined by a number of great directors: Godard, Fellini, Lynch, Ferrarra, Billy Wilder and Francois Truffaut are just a few of the famous names to lengthen the boundaries of the film-within-a-film sub-genre. Truffaut's contribution won 'Best Foreign Film' at the Academy Awards, just one decade before his death.
La Nuit americaine (American Night) refers to the process of shooting a night scene in daylight by means of a special filter, and is a particularly apt title for the two films on offer which often merge into a single viewing experience.
This illustration is made from La Defence, under the “Grand Arc” in the direction of the “Arc de Triomphe”.

Beautiful composition Rob, the image is well balanced and this blue color especially makes me think of pollution large cities.

Hele bijzondere atmosfeer door die koude blauwe kleuren! Die mistige Arc de Triomph op de 8ergrond is ook mooi!

Hi Rob,
Good image. The composition is very nice; the courtyard, the path, the open feeling, and the buildings on edge all work together splendidly. The heights of the building give an imposing and futuristic feeling. The color adds to this mood. Very good work!
