The Orsay Station Museum is a museum in Paris, France, on the left bank of the Seine, housed in the former railway station, the Gare d'Orsay. It holds mainly French art dating from 1848 to 1914, including paintings, sculptures, furniture, and photography, and is probably best known for its extensive collection of impressionist masterpieces by popular painters such as Monet and Renoir. Many of these works were held at the Galerie nationale du Jeu de Paume prior to the museum's opening in 1986.
The museum building was originally a railway station, Gare d'Orsay, constructed for the Chemin de Fer de Paris à Orléans and finished in time for the 1900 Exposition Universelle to the design of three architects: Lucien Magne, Émile Bénard and Victor Laloux. It was the terminus for the railways of southwestern France until 1939.
By 1939 the station's short platforms had become unsuitable for the longer trains that had come to be used for mainline services. After 1939 it was used for suburban services and part of it became a mailing center during World War II. The station's hotel closed on 1 January 1973.
In 1977 the French Government decided to convert the station to a museum and it was opened by President François Mitterrand on 1 December 1986. ACT Architecture (Renaud Bardon, Pierre Colboc and Jean-Paul Philippon) were designated to work on this conversion.

Wow.. this is fun Alex.
I think the light is really good, still I'm never sure what I see in this kind of images.
If you haven't been there and seen it yourself it's just more or less a puzzle.
In spite of the "puzzle" I think it looks real good.

Cheers,
Anneke

Hi Alex,

Well seen and well captured! It gives a nice sense of depth due to the repeating reflections. Love the golden glow. Lovely rich decorations and ornaments. The mirror itself makes a great frame. Well done Alex, greetings from Bianca.

Hi Alex. Good perspective to get so much into one frame. It is always a challenge to make a good composition using a mirror in this way, but you got it well arranged. It is certainly one of the best museums in Paris. Good work. Murray.

Hello Alex,

Your idea of composition this shot is awesome. Such a wonderful presentation in which multiple reflections are beautifully captured along with your own lense in the bottom. Fine details and natural hues are lovely. Well done my friend.

Thanks for sharing this image.

Lovely capture Alex. Well composed, good light and fine detail. Nicely framed and presented. TFS,
David

Many thanks for your comment on ‘Cataract Walk II’

Hi Alex,
I love these almost endless reflections. I've never been able to find one so I am a bit in envy with this photo. A wonderful idea and beautifully captured. Just a pity that you are in the photo as well.

Hi Alex

Beautiful visual, that yes it is that it is a wonderful display of a repetition of glosses of the most beautiful. I am to imagine a corridor like this with all of them hung!
Lovely rich decorations and ornaments.
Congratulations

Sérgio

Great creation in a very french style and you trying hard to get just the right angle and a minimum of camera in the picture.
Must have been fun Alex.
