Driving back to Belgium after a one day’s hike in north eastern France, we thought this scenery was worth some photos…
Thanks for your comments, critiques and suggestions.

Critiques [Translate]

The idea is good but I have to be honest and say the execution doesn't quite make it.

You've used good rule-of-thirds composition, which works well, but there's a sense of the horizon being slightly skewed to the right - and your subject seems surprised by the photograph; there was an opportunity for a 'hitch-hiking' or 'surveying the scene' pose that would've given the shot a whole lot more attitude.

I'm also not entirely sure why you chose sepia for this, when I'm sure there were some delightful greens in the original?

My apologies if this isn't the critique you wanted to see, keep the shots coming!

Hi Erik,
An intrigue picture, the woman who looks back over here sholder, the endless road, leading to what? The B&W presentation with sepia tone fits perfect to this picture! One remark; I would have chosen to start the left white line precisely in the left lower corner. Excellent artistic impression my friend!

Nice tone in this one and good perspective.
All the best,
Paul

Hi Erik,

I'll agree with rewshearer on this one, especially regarding the choice for sepia. Perhaps a B&W with high contrast would've been better? I also think the subject (gosh, that's a terrible word!), the girl seems surprised. That's not neccessarily a bad thing, generally speaking, but for some reason it doesn't fit here. I think it somehow breaks the artistic illusion of the scene.

Regards,
Chris

Sylvie

hello Erik,

..and that is kind of picture that i like- only you know what she said, only you know how she looked like after next step.
i also enjoy that one, because it remaind me my walks when i was living in small village in Yorkshire County. My fiance just loves to hike and even when we were tired he was taking me for loooooong long walk around small villages around, and it looks exactly the same- long road to nowhere with no propper foot-path and just nature on both sides!!

just perfect!!

have a nice day :o)
Maya

Hi Erik,
Wonderful depth and clarity to this lovely b&w highway landscape. The lovely young lady brings excellent scale to this road as it moves to the distant hills.
Regards, Tom
