Chatelet-Les Halles is a big station of the transportation network of Paris. It is located in the middle of Paris, thousands of people are commuting there everyday, from and to the suburbs. It is hard to imagine that outside, at the surface, there is a beautiful area with theatres, restaurants, by the River Seine.

This woman was waiting, with her baby, I saw her hand, I wanted to catch it ... I mean, I wanted to shoot it and I did.

The photo is blurred because of not very good conditions of light and as I had to take the photo very quickly.

Hi Sylvie!
What a funny slip of tongue! ;P Do you see what I see in the photo? It seems as everyone in this image is alone. And the woman, since I can't see the baby, is also "alone." Her hand is dangling there free...by itself...as if she is waiting for someone...yearning for her hand to be caught up by someone. An image about isolation, maybe? Pretty good.
Thanks for sharing.
Richard

Lovely, and not only the hand, but also the woman reading on the train in the background. I adore the jeans texture you managed to give to the side of the train. And only you would have slanted the entire image like that - which of course is one of your trademarks.

Well "Sly", the slanted image with the train passing is fantastic, but the hand by itself does not belong there, I think it's too powerful for the rest of the composition and would stand beautifully by itself as the only star in the photo ;-)
You know I am a bit crazy, but I would crop it by the grey area, ok, so no one else would like it, I know, but I would love it ;-) There's a totally different photo down there and I think it's exactly the one that you saw when you took this photo...
Another great work, like only you know how to do. Wonderful.
Ana

Hi Sylvie,
interesting shot, with the tilt.. seems that the train goes directly to the woman (and so your unconscious.. and it seems that I wasn't the only one who "catch it" ;-))).
Definitly the shot can be divided in to different worlds and even shots (again the 'Corsican split' is visiting us today).
And don't worry about blur.. it gives a touch of mystery to your shots... are you sure that you don't work as a spy after work?? ;-))
Well done.
Marisa

sylvie, i like the diagonal lines and i think the blur does actually work well for this...
hmm...catch the hand?...women have such delicate things about them that make them beautiful...in this case, the resting hand...
even with the blur, i like the softness of the photo...
this one probably would have been a nice "catch"...

Your compositions are inspiring. Love this one. The colors and composition are excellent! Excellent photo. JP

Salut Sylvie !

I'm looking at this photo for a days and thinking. This photo have so good composition, not only tehnical, the meaning of composition is gfantastic. Tell us a story.
I must say that I would like that it is more clear, sharp especially the hand. Only hand! Because the hand lead us in.
I ove it Sylvie!

;) your spy technique is upgrading so quickly,Sylvie~~
the conditions made it blur but i thought it got just the right effect! the tude had the sense of reality like the jeans, and the posture of the woman's hand left a space of imagination:)
cheers,
xu

I guess camera shaked a bit ... but still a very good shot ... I like the abstraction that this photo signifies
bravo

Bel effet.
