Back on TL, after a city-trip to the City of Light...

Ann & I treated ourselves to a long, romantic, though fatiguing week-end in Paris. Lots of walking about the place, seeing the sights we missed the previous time, and re-visiting some of the all-time beautiful places such as Montmartre. My feet still ache ;o)

One of my objectives was to practice some night photography, and this is one of the results: the outer court of the Louvre, with I.M. Pei's controversial pyramid. Some love it, some hate it... Ok, the "interaction" of the modern glass structure with the classical buildings is strange at first, but I absolutely love it.

Tech talk

In-camera compo.

Downsized for TL and framed with some home-made PS actions.

Cloned out two brightly lit windows, as they were attention-drawers. The red spots under the pyramid are "ghosts", it's the coat of one of the people that walked by when the shutter was open. I considered cloning them out too, but decided to leave them unaltered.

No other corrections were made on the picture. But beforehand, yes; I find that the camera seldom proposes the correct exposure. Indeed, usually reducing the speed by half works better. So: manual settings only!

Very very very nice!!
Beautiful light and the shape of the pyramid is so out of place in between the "oldness"
If you told me you spotted a spaceship I would have believed it too :)

Ok Frank
Here we have a ''Top Dingo shot ''
No disturbing cables in the air, a fine nocturnal view with a clear dark sky
and the lights make it look like a Cristmass dream
Hope you both had a great time in Paris
Thanks for sharing
John

Hey Frank,
I like the combination of traditional and modern architecture as it highlighted by teh lights.
Well done!
Cheers, Andriy

Frank,

Great shot - good sharpness and exposure levels in this near symmetrical image. I always did think the presence of a pyramid strange, among the great architecture of Paris....

Hi Frank,

That pyramid may be controversial but I love the contrast it provides in your lovely composition.

Heerlijke ruime opzet hier.
Je had vast het gevoel dat het weekend een week duurde, er komen dan zoveel indrukken op de je af.

This picture really brings back some great memories of this place. This is a really incredible picture showing the beautiful lights. Breathtaking!! TFS

Wel, het is niet makkelijk, maar van de drie piramide-foto's vind ik deze nog altijd de beste Frank.
De compositie spreekt me hier het meeste aan :
contrast tussen moderne en " de gevestigde " waarde.
Goeie belichting ! Alles prima in toom gehouden.

TFS !
