Another view of this gorgeous village of Severac le chateau, with a little of history as well that I found on this very informative website http://www.severac-le-chateau.com/# (in English, French and Spanish)

"A THOUSAND-YEAR-OLD HISTORY

It might be Severus, one of Julius Caesar lieutenants, who funded and gave his name to the citadel.

In the 9th century, Sévérac-le-château was a " viguerie " (a typical jurisdiction in the south of France) established by Charlemagne.

In the 12th century, the castle which already existed in the year 1000, belonged to the " De Sévérac " family, vassal of Barcelona and later Aragon viscounts.

Guy de Montfort seized the castle in 1214, during the Albigensian crusade.
In the 13th century, the original feudal site was extended into a fortified castle with round enclosure and watchtowers, of which the major part still remains nowadays.

The fortress - which belonged to the "d'Armagnac" family- was seized in 1444 by Louis XI, the Dauphin, future King of France.

In the 17th century, the duke of "Arpajon" erected neoclassical renaissance apartments in the southern part of the castle (85 metres long and richly decorated).

The castle used to be one of the most important and richest sites in Rouergue because of its strategic position. Today, we still enter the inner court going under the portal which was built by a Florentine architect.

The castle, which is classed as a historic monument since 1922, is public property and is currently undergoing restoration.

The kitchen, the Gothic chapel (XIVth century) and the watchtowers are open to the public.

At 817 metres height, the castle offers a panoramic view over the Causses, the Aveyron valley, the Palanges forest and the Aubrac plateau (viewpoint indicators).

The castle also dominates the medieval town. In the walls of Sévérac-le-château castle lies an important part of the history of the Aveyron departement, which is an ancient province of Rouergue and of France."

Bonjour LuDivine
Un bon point de vue pour le mélange de ces toits et leurs différentes textures.
Bonne journée.
Cordialement
Gildas

Snuggly together their houses stand
A cosy village, a mini wonderland
A photo as sprankling fresh as deodorant
It won’t be long till people will say;
‘This is a typical LuDivine Laurent.’
