'jour,
un moment de solitude, une heure à tuer, je me suis essayé à l'autoportrait, c'est une première car d'ordinaire, je suis derrière l'appareil et non devant.

Your effort turned out well, Pierre. The point of view is good: I like the way we can look into your eyes. The sharpness and clarity are good also. The background is simple and complements the image. The choice of black and white is appropriate and it also helps to avoid distracting from the focus on your face. The only two things I see that might be improved are these: 1) The image is slightly too dark at the top, perhaps, where your hair and head get lost in the shadows; and 2) it is slightly overexposed at your elbow, from which it appears the flash is bouncing against it.
Good work!
Jim
P.S. -- I do like the tighter crop in this version. It draws the eye to you, as the subject, more effectively and rapidly.
Hi Didier, I did look at the original but the addition of the frame and the slightly tighter crop have improved this. A good pose, an intense look and very well converted,
David
