The rock which is what's left after erosion of a volcano. The chapel St Michel D'Aiguilhe was built on the summit around about the 10th century.
In 950-951, Le Puy en Velay became the point of departure of the first French pilgrimage to Santiago Composetela.

Superb use of lens flare and halination. The dark sky and wonderful sun makes this image. I suggest that the chappel is made a little darker too. Other than that, it's great

The lens flare effect enhances your composition! I like your experimental approach to photography, where you use pictures as basis for further artistic work... Well done, not the least since there is a narrow borderline to the overdone!
