A river Runs Through It

Another chance shot whilst driving through the mountains of the Gorge Du Verdon in France.
I saw a group of adventure seekers preparing to go white water rafting, and couldn't resist the opportunity of taking a shot.
I made my way to a high rock as close to the water as i could get and lay down to take get a good perspective.
There were plenty of other areas to take shots from, but i wanted a side on view showing the rafters steering through the two rocks just behind them and then hitting the torrent in the shot you see here.
I used a custom white balance prepared the day before in similar light
which produced a colour temp of 5200K.
For less noise, i chose an ISO of 100.
Hand held with my 24-70mm Canon, 5.6 aperture and a 1/200 shutter speed to maintain a sense of motion without blurring the water too much produced the result i wanted.
Slightly cropped to fill the frame with the action, otherwise, uploaded as taken. |

A very good action shot, Martin. You captured the sense of movement and at the same time, you managed to have a good sharpness on the fast moving boat. Nice overall clarity as well.
You definitely were the right photographer on the right place at the right time.
TFS & kind regards,
Erik
Hello Martin
Very good action shot. I like that composition with lots of room in front of the raft and off centered subject. Since I don't see any panning effect, I must say you shot at the right time. The light is perfect, good control of the whites and crisp details.
Congratulations
Serge
