[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,

This morning, I am posting a shot of the town of Chinon from the walls of the chateau. It is the opposite view from this.

Instead of looking towards the vinyards, the view takes us towards one of the ruined towers of the chateau, over the medieval houses of the town and on towards the River Vienne, a tributary of the famous River Loire.

The setting is beautiful, especially on such a fine, sunny morning. It is full of history. I was interested to find out that this was the setting for the film 'A Lion in Winter', a film which I enjoyed enormously.

My husband and I explored the chateau, which had to entered through the king's secret entrance due to renovation work on the main entrance, in the morning, before it became too hot. Later, we explored the Medieval town; then we sat at an out-door cafe, soaking in the relaxed atmosphere, the sunshine and the sparkling French cider.

Many thanks for your interest.
Please feel free to feedback on any aspect of the photograph. Bev :-)

Later note _ I was using a Hoya circular polarizer. I need to add it to my equipment profile!

Hi Beverley,

Exceptional picture.
Made and played excellent!
Have a pleasant weekend,
Adrian

Nice photo Bev, well captured

Hello Beverley! Amazing tower and wonderful landscape. Ideal POV and capture. Superb colours. Splendid effect. Good luck!

Hi Bev,

Fantastic photo of a stunning location.

I too am a huge fan of the film you mention in your note. It has to be one of my alltime favourites for its wit, humour and historical intrigue. The Plantagenet period of UK history is one of interests and I am particularly fascinated by the life and achievements of Eleanor of Aquitaine; a remarkable lady who lived a remarkable 82 years way back in the 12th century - a rare feat in itself for that period.

Anyway, back to your photo. Simply awesome! TFS.

Martyn

Good Morning, Beverley!

Thanks for your kid remarks on my picture.

A great shot of the landscape with presence of historical monuments. You got the prefect blue sky. Very well sharpness, nice harmony of colors, great POV with water giving well contrast to the color of the old building. Your composition is simply amazing, thanks for sharing!

greetings from Germany,
Paras Bhalla

Hi Bev,
Excellent composition, good use of the rule of thirds with the tower on the edge of the horizontal and vertical third lines. Crisp and clear colours with a superb contrast between the blue sky, lush green and bright town and castle. The river is well positioned in the view it takes my eyes to the horizon and back. A fine posting Bev!
Hans

Suoerb composition, good use of the rule of thirds .

Bonsoir Beverley
Another great POV to show one of the jewells of French Loire Castles.Nice colours and proportions.I think that in a great number of cases Rule of three comes spontaneously under the photographer eye.
Maybe you know that Jeanne d'Arc came from Domremy to Chinon to pray Charles the 7th (who she will then lead to Reims for coronation as King of France) to give her an army to "bouter les Angloys hors de France".He was very hard to convince, being first not sure of her God mission.
He would certainly have not acceptd if he had known Beverley and her FFF (full french frienship)
Have a good night Beverley

I just found out that friends of mine are selling their house and moving to your corner of the world and I'm already planning to visit them there. It's so exciting to think about actually seeing some of these places that you've posted. I'm surprised at the difference in the scenery facing these separate directions. Still very pretty and intriquing. Nice pov and very lovely colors. TFS

Hi Bev:)
Very beautiful postcard vith excellent POV, colours and perspective.TFS.
Cheers,

Salut Beverley.
Si l’on voyait plus souvent dans les carrousels des devantures des kiosks de si belles photos j’enverrai surement plus souvent de cartes postales. Bravo pour cette belle composition.
Bonne journée.

Hi Beverley

Good sharpness & a superb high pov. Excellent colour contrast & saturation. The circular stone tower makes a good focal point. Tfs!

Ciao Bev, great view of splendid castle, wonderful light and colors, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hello Beverley,a wonderful view.
Good composition with the diagonal of the river, and the off centre tower standing imposingly over the town.
It was obviously a very bright day,and you have managed the light really well, the polarizer worked well.
[The tower looks in need of some TLC,those gaping holes certainly add interest!]
Tfs, regards Jean.

What a view you have here Bev! Excellent sharpness, nice levels, no OE! That Polarizer worked great for you here!
B-)
