[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Jewish Holocaust Memorial in Berlin is a stomach churning place.

It was built to commemorate the Jewish people who died in the concentration camps in Germany during the Second World War.

In a weird twist of fate, it is situated in the same place where the front garden of Hitler's palace used to be.

The same company that manufactured the poison gas for the gas chambers in the camps, manufactured the graffiti proof paint, with which the blocks are painted. In an effort to correct their wrongdoing at that time.

Few places in the world contains such a horrid mix of different opinions and peculiar twists and just the feeling of waste and dispair.

The stones are cast in cement and painted grey, thousands of them. I could have shown it in colour and the effect would still be grey. (see ws posting)

I cropped the original picture, filtered through red and then B&W and adusted shadows and brightness before adding the frame.

Hola Dirk.
Buenos efectos los conseguidos con la imagen en b/w.
Un triste recordatorio de algo que nunca debió suceder.
Saludos y tfs, JL.

great contrast and framing...but i especially enjoyed the note...very interesting...it gives this otherwise ambiguous photo (for those of us who didn't know what it was of) so much more meaning...thanks for sharing...peace***
